Healthy Mixed Berry Crisp – A Naturally Sweetened Vegan Dessert

Ditch the sugary tarts and pies for this healthy Mixed Berry Crisp. Made with fresh berries and a nutty, oat crumble topping, it’s naturally sweetened and bursting with flavor. Perfect for a cozy, guilt-free treat!

Ingredients

Filling:

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries

  • 4 cups fresh blueberries

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Zest and juice from ½ orange

Crumble:

  • 1 cup rolled oats, divided in half

  • ½ cup chopped cashews, divided in half

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ cup tahini

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

Directions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 350°F. Mix all the filling ingredients in a bowl and set aside.

  2. Prepare Crumble: Pulse ½ of the oats and cashews in a food processor until a crumbly texture forms. Add the remaining oats, cashews, chia seeds, and cinnamon. Mix in the tahini and maple syrup until well combined.

  3. Assemble & Bake: Pour the filling into an 8x8 baking dish or cast-iron skillet. Cover with the crumble mixture. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until golden brown with bubbly edges.

  4. Cool & Serve: Let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.

  • Use your favorite berries: Try raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries.

  • Add nuts: Pecans or walnuts are great alternatives to cashews.

  • Spice it up: Add nutmeg or cardamom for extra warmth.
